Tiffin Sambhar – Hotel Style

Perfect for Idli + Dosa | South Indian சாம்பார்

Ingredients

• Toor dal – ½ cup   • Onion – 1   • Tomato – 2   • Dry red chilli – 4   • Turmeric – ½ tsp   • Curry leaves – few

Pressure Cook

Add toor dal, onion, tomato, turmeric   + 2 cups water.   Pressure cook for 5–6 whistles.

Roast Masalas

Dry roast chana dal, urad dal , coriander seeds for 3 mins. Add red chillies & coconut. Roast till aromatic.

Masala Paste

Cool the roasted mix. Add water +  grind to a smooth paste.

Tempering

Heat ghee. Add mustard. Sauté onions + red chillies & curry leaves till aromatic.

Tamarind + Masala

Add tamarind water. Mix in the masala paste. Boil till raw smell goes.

Tiffin Sambhar – Ready!

Serve hot with Idli or Dosa. Hotel-style taste at home 🫶
