  • cups water about 200 ml
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 small onion finely chopped (optional for serving)

Method

  2. Pour in 1½ cups water and mix well.
  3. Close the cooker and cook for 5 whistles on medium heat.
  4. Allow the pressure to release naturally.
  5. Open the cooker and mix the cooked kanji well.
  6. Take a small portion of the cooked mixture in a bowl.
  7. Add enough drinking water to reach your preferred kanji consistency.
  8. Add salt to taste and mix well.
  9. Top with finely chopped onions if desired.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • The kanji powder is ground slightly coarse, so the cooked texture will resemble partially broken rice.
  • Adjust the amount of water according to your preferred consistency.
  • Fresh kanji can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • Chopped onions add a traditional village-style flavor.
